Route Map
Journal Excerpts

From Butch’s journal:
The trip from Jeffrey City to Rawlins, Wyoming was 68 miles. Had breakfast at the Drillers Delight in Jeffrey City. That was a big mistake. It took us two hours to be served. If looks could have killed, we would have all been dead. The miners didn’t particularly care for us. We were glad to be moving on without any incidents. We were treated to cinnamon rolls, when Kevin and Doug’s grandparents caught up to us in the middle of the desert. They had been visiting in Oregon when we left on our journey and had followed our route until they found us. They live in Montana.

From Tani’s journal:
We got up at 4:00. We went to a restaurant, and we were the first ones there. It took us one hour to get served. The miners all came and got served right away. When the waitress went into the kitchen, you could hear the waitress and the owner arguing about serving us. I think the waitress was really embarrassed. Everybody was glad to leave that town. We’re all glad to be leaving the Bikecentennial route.
From Nancy’s journal:
We ate lunch by the side of the road. A truck pulled up beside us. All the sudden, Kevin goes, “Hey, it’s Grandma and Grandpa!” They were from Montana. They were really nice and gave us all cinnamon rolls for lunch. It was neat seeing someone we knew out in the middle of Wyoming.
